ArcPicked exists because welders are sold on a number that rarely means what it seems. “200 A” appears on small 120 V flux-core machines and on dual-voltage multi-process units alike. The details that decide what a machine can actually do — the duty cycle at its rated output, the input voltage it was rated on, the processes the maker declares, the wire and rod sizes it takes — sit in spec sheets and manuals most buyers never open. We started this site to read those documents, record what each maker actually states, and say what it means for the work you have in mind.
What we cover
Welders for the home garage and shop — MIG and flux-core, stick, TIG and multi-process machines on 120 V, 240 V or dual-voltage input — chosen for your situation, not for a brand or a price point: a first welder for the garage, a machine that has to run on 120 V, thin sheet or thicker steel projects, or one machine for more than one process.
How we work
ArcPicked is research-led. Every guide is built on published documentation, and we don’t buy, use or physically test the welders we write about. Every guide states what was verified and what wasn’t. The full method is at How we choose, and the money policy is in our affiliate disclosure.
Who is behind it
Every guide is published under the ArcPicked name and says who edited it, with a short bio. We publish no anonymous content.
